FAQ
Like all products in the PERS range, our Vitamin C Serum 10% has been designed and tested for all skin types and complexions. Universal, it is suitable for normal, oily or combination skin, as well as dry skin. Finally, it presents no risk to sensitive skin.
Dr Antoni Calmon recommends applying Vitamin C Serum 10% in the morning to clean skin, to PROTECT the skin from the aggressions it will face throughout the day: pollution, the environment, free radicals....
For complete protection, we recommend applying a broad-spectrumsun protection factor 50 every day, even on overcast days. UVA rays, which are primarily responsible for premature ageing, generate oxidative stress all year round, even in winter. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant shield.
There is no contraindication to using Vitamin C Serum 10% in the evening. However, in order to optimize the action of vitamin C and to provide the skin with only what is necessary and sufficient, we recommend applying it preferably in the morning to PROTECT the skin against the aggressions it will suffer throughout the day.
At night, the skin's chronobiological cycle enters its regeneration phase, making it the ideal time to REPAIR and STIMULATE the skin.
"It's perfectly possible to combine Vitamin C and Retinol," says Dr Antoni Calmon. However, he recommends using them at two different times of the day. Retinol must be applied in the evening, as the photosensitizing molecule can cause irritation during the day. Vitamin C is suitable for application in the morning, to PROTECT the skin against the aggressions it will suffer throughout the day.
Vitamin C Serum 10% is suitable for all skin types. However, if you experience discomfort, itching, skin irritation, burning or tingling after using the product, we recommend you stop and consult your doctor or dermatologist to find out which elements of the product or your skin care routine may be allergenic or irritating.
There are many varieties of Vitamin C. Pure Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is unstable and quickly oxidizes when exposed to light or air. This is why we prefer stabilized Vitamin C, which does not oxidize and retains its properties over time, even after the bottle has been opened. In this way, Vitamin C is released once it comes into contact with the skin.
The 10% concentrated Vitamin C used in our formula is a stabilized form of ascorbic acid: ascorbyl phosphate (in the form of sodium ascorbyl phosphate). This form is much more resistant to oxidation than pure vitamin C, enabling it to remain stable, without turning brown or losing effectiveness, even when exposed to light or air, including in our transparent bottle.
Once applied to the skin, a specific cutaneous enzyme cleaves the bond between the phosphate and the ascorbate molecule. This mechanism releases the active vitamin C directly into the skin, where it can effectively exert its antioxidant effects.
Dr Antoni Calmon selected this 10% dosage to ensure the perfect balance between biological efficacy and skin tolerance. According to his clinical experience, this concentration delivers maximum radiance and deep action without creating the irritation often associated with higher dosages.
The pH of Vitamin C Serum 10% PERS is between 7.6 and 8. This pH has been carefully formulated to offer high skin tolerance, while guaranteeing the stability and efficacy of vitamin C. Our formula is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive.
Vitamin C is not photosensitizing, but it is photosensitive: it oxidizes on contact with air and/or when exposed to light. It then rapidly loses its properties, without posing any risk to the skin. It is therefore advisable to apply an SPF 50 broad-spectrumsun protection product to protect not only the vitamin C but also, and above all, the skin! UV protection should be applied as the last step in your skin care routine.
